Coraline - Henry Selick
I’m not entirely certain what to write about but I know this: it will be a very chill writing session. I’m not going to put too much worry into what it is that’s going to be said. Because as of right now, I don’t have much to say. All that matters is that I’m here and showing up.
Today for instance, I went out for an easy aerobic jog, that turned out to be much harder than I had anticipated, but only because my body started asking questions. When you take out your headphones the only thing you can do is take in what’s around you and what’s inside you, and I was surprised to hear how much my body was longing to move quickly. I know for a fact that this is what experienced runners might say is “a trap” but for some reason I let my body move how it wanted to. I let my pace pick up. I moved from an average pace of 9:45 all the way down to 9:06.
I knew that I was probably pushing past my zone 3 heart rate, I could sense it in how much I was longing for oxygen, and the rhythm was becoming belabored. I leaned forward and kept on running, I didn’t let up this time. My body just wanted to move, and I listened, and it turns out when I looked back at my workout, I was actually at a fairly good average heart rate of 148 BPM though I had some spikes going all the way to 175 BPM at some point.
Sometimes your body is ready to be pushed, and this is only because I had been running at a very slow pace, letting my body get used to the miles. I’m not entirely sure if I could say it was a good idea or not, but I think I enjoyed myself, and was proud of what my body could do. It kind of felt like an inner child of mine saying, “Look what I can do.” Because it’s so early in the training I’m happy to oblige it. I’ll also praise it because let’s be real, we’re allowed to be impressed with ourselves.
